    Camerons Brewery has been at the Lion Brewery site since 1865 and is one of Hartlepool’s oldest businesses. With a retail pub estate based predominately in the North East of England we consider ourselves to be a key business in the region and are proud of our history, heritage and roots.

    The brewery has the capacity to brew over 1 million hectolitres of beer per annum with further development planned to increase this capacity.

Welcome to the Camerons Brewery Website. Based in Hartlepool, Camerons is now back in family hands since we purchased the brewery in 2002. Our philosophy at Camerons is to offer our customers high quality beers and lagers brewed at the Lion Brewery as well as a full range of products from other major breweries and suppliers.

Visitor Centre

Camerons Brewery Visitor Centre is on the site of the former Stranton pub. It offers a remarkable and educational insight into beer production but is also fascinating story of entrepreneurial activity, innovation, social history and political maneuvering. Interactive displays trace brewing through the ages and the rise of the present company from its origins in 1865 when John William Cameron first entered the Lion Brewery.

The Brewery Tour

Brewery Tours are available Monday to Saturday, where visitors can see how Camerons beers are made. People are invited to meet the faces behind the beer, ask questions and to take in the wonders of the Italian marble-lined brew hall.

Guided tours can be thirsty work, so we invite you to join us in the relaxing, atmospheric, fully-licensed bar and enjoy the likes of award-winning Camerons Strongarm, the brewery’s flagship beer which is as distinct as Hartlepool itself.

Contract Brewing

  • Contract work is one of the major elements of Camerons Brewery’s business. Our facility at the Lion Brewery provides the flexibility to produce a large range of products from traditional cask ales to premium lagers. We have an impressive selection of fermenting vessels from open squares to modern enclosed conicals as well as a flexible storage and handling facility for various yeasts.

  • Our reputation for quality and response is second to none as our track record proves: We currently brew major premium mainstream products for national brewers. Our site has the capacity to brew over 1 million hectolitres of beer per annum with further development planned to increase this capacity. This gives us the capability to support major contract requirements although our flexibility allows us to facilitate small volume runs. Once produced, we can condition the products prior to distributing in bulk or packaging in keg or cask in a variety of sizes.
