North East Brewer Helps Local Football Club

Camerons LogoCamerons Brewery Ltd last night agreed to donate Darlington FC the beer and cider for Saturday’s big game against Fleetwood.

Following discussions with Shaun Campbell and Jason Lees who are part of the Darlington Football Club Rescue Group and Yousef Doubooni, Marketing Manager at Camerons Brewery it was agreed that the historic brewery would supply the club the beer and cider for the match for free.

The club which was saved by the group earlier this week made contact with the brewery to see if they could help in anyway.

“Camerons Brewery are pleased to announce that they will be making a donation of beer and cider to the club in order for them to be able to run their bars for Saturday’s game” said Yousef Doubooni.

“Whilst Darlington FC are a rival to the breweries local team, Hartlepool United, we felt it was important to support another local North East club and we are happy to make this donation.  Rival managers have asked for people to do what they can to support this club and even Jeff Stelling expressed his sadness that the club might fold on his Soccer Saturday show on Sky.  As another long standing North East business we hope that this small donation does go some way into ensuring that the club continues to be part of the local football community” Yousef continued.

The club have urged people to come to the ground to support the team on Saturday and would appreciate any donations they can make.  The Blue Square Bet conference Premier League game against Fleetwood kicks off at 3:00pm on Saturday and there will be people from the Rescue Group collecting donations on the day.

New Standards Set At Camerons Brewery

Front from left to right: Chris Soley, Director & General Manager, Paul Graham, Quality Assurance Manager, Martin Dutoy, Head Brewer and Barry Cuthbert, Chief Engineer with BRC and ISO certificatesCamerons Brewery Ltd is delighted to announce that it has obtained both the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and ISO 9001 accreditations.

These accreditations follow an impressive drive at the brewery to improve standards and procedures following the recent £4.2m investment to increase output at the site.  Camerons Brewery now has a capacity to brew in excess of 1.5 million HL per annum at its historic Lion Brewery site in Hartlepool.

Quality Assurance Manager Paul Graham, who has managed the BRC and ISO 9001 accreditation process, was extremely pleased with achieving the two quality standards.  “It has taken a lot of hard work to achieve both of these accreditations and it has only been possible by ensuring that every member of staff has played an active part in developing the new standards and procedures, as well as maintaining them, throughout the brewery.  Every member of the manufacturing, engineering and production staff has passed the NVQ level 2 in Lean Manufacturing or are on their way to achieving this, while other member of staff have also gone on to gain the level 3 qualification”.

Chris Soley, Director & General Manager, of Camerons Brewery was equally as thrilled about achieving the BRC and ISO 9001 accreditations.  Achieving both of these quality standards plays an important part in Camerons current and future plans at the brewery.  These standards demonstrate our continued emphasis on achieving world class manufacturing standards for production and quality, building on our lean manufacturing continual improvement philosophy and shows our commitment to become one of the leading contract brewing facilities in the UK.  The two accreditations will ensure we maintain our current contract brewing customers and will also open the doors to attract further brewers to work with us.  It is testament to the hard work of Paul, his team and the brewery staff that both of these accreditations have been achieved and our focus is to work alongside our contract brewing partners to continually raise the bar and improve standards to ensure we continue to be a leader in the contract brewing field”.

Camerons Brewery currently has brewing contracts with a number of global brewers including Heineken and Carlsberg Tetley.
